Continued with hi-focused independency,
Still intrigues with motivation reactivity,
That interprets with the student of philosophy,
That I still continue to be tactical with proven audacity.
The logicality of recession intelligence,
That has a eloquent sagacity~adherently added with consistence,
Its profession that inclined with satisfaction,
That I still intellect as an motivator of my motivation.
The conceptions of my impressions are all tactical,
The actions of my intriguing procession... can be prodigical,
Insighted by the divine auras of the Lord...have to proceed with the Lord's faithful law,
That I continue to be with the purposes of Christian protocols,
I'm spiritual without an underachievement,
Procedures of power; Spiritual Growth...
Having faith without understatements,
And still presume to be upright to win the batttles of the resentful movement.

The lucky girl (true story)
Chapter 1
What a mother!
~ ~ Having a mother like mine you feel ashamed to talk about it. Mama was on drugs for years but to me it seems like a life time. Mama use to run the streets and she would leave myself and my four brothers~ ~ DJ, Charles, Eric and Fidel and my two sisters Brandy and Gabrielle in the house for days, i was three at the time, most people got so sick and tired of her actions that they called SRS. My mama gave up her parental rights, my grandma said that she would take all seven of us but SRS said that was to many to take care of and she couldnt have me because i had cerebral palsy, so my grandma took in DJ, Eric, Fidel and Gabrielle in and brandy and Charles went with their daddy, and me, i went into foster at three years old.
~ ~ My mama was in and out of jail, destroying every once of chance of getting clean and respect that ever gotten, she was in and out of my life ~ ~ always doing wrong.~ ~ I know that my mama always and will love me but the way she treats and acts towards my brothers and sisters and my grandma it seems like she never loved me or loved anything about me ~ ~ But I know i have some or even an ounce of my mama in me and thats one of my best quailites.

Professionally Xenophobic--a written rhyme by Alphonse
I'm professive professionally.
I skill with my flows of outstanding mentality.
That I conceptually proceed to be legendary.
That I skill introspectively to my anticipatory.
The psychology of my life concepts.
Notionally swerved with tactical attempts.
I feel inter-intellectualistic with philosophical contempt.
I set my depression of physiognomic expresson to a casuality attent.
Collaborative, during my motivation.
I still receive the gift of my anticipation.
Though I feel interventions with psychosis attention.
That I feel xenophobic with common counteractions.
Never neglect my independency.
I've fact ny junctions, that I still feel the mysterious apathy.
It's a thrill with superb contemptibility.
That my life is more uprising with wise probability.
The psychological exopsychic.
That persuades the common ethnics.
That conversed the specific ethics.
But I'm not having trouble with a common statistics.
I move on with my motivation as a Christian.
I felt holy, everytime in prayer to the Eternal Sovereign.
I'm the psychodynamic icon of resemblance.
That I will have LJC with my phenomenon.

Um? IDK
So Shaun mandated me to blog about random stuff. He said he didn't care what I blogged about. He just wanted me to blog.
Err...so I am gonna be 20 in four days. I feel kinda old. I don't know why, I suppose it's just the whole idea of not having the word "teen" attached to my age.
Oh! And the Halloween dance is in three days as well. The theme this year is "Zombie Prom" so I am coming as a zombie catholic school girl. So be there or be sqaure.

Hey everybody,
The Young Adult area is looking a little deserted the last couple of weeks. Just wanted to let everyone know we miss having a full house and if you are struggling with transportation issues don't be afraid to call.

My Eclectic Motivation of Faith Sat. 8/29/09
I'm eclectic with conceptions of faith, collaborated by the intimacy of the minds of hate.
My flows are hypothetic--specific with music, I 'm continuing to be non-sophistic--not to be pathetic.
Intentional visions--that I'm self-knowledgeable with musicality, I'm moving on to be a pro that flow remedy--not scrutiny.
The light of peace is also the comfort of peace, personification--more like swaying with non-pathetic spree.
The conceptuality of my understanding, Its skill phenomenal--motivated through phenomenology.
I still intent to be exactly attentive with rhythm, that I skill interpretively with excellent paradigms.
Never a coke-headed crook to be uphilled, that I proceed to be spiritually fulfilled.
With righteous blessings from the Father, and I will never be a folly with the will power--just to be the independent motivator.

Depressing Anxiety a Poem
Cold world full of unrighteousness, consuming info of wrong enutilities--the weeks of the course, brings back hopelessness, that I'm confused with anxious rememberance. The world is close to the end--stupidless with mentality, confused with precaution--still in agony, felt psychic with verses contemptibility, Cursed as a psychical wit in the participatory. Wisdom is what I need from the Lord; not from the false christ, It feels like I'm trapped; prayer is forever powerful with Jesus--to visualize, God oversees my prophesy-- agony and tactile crisis, I will be always a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, hope I'm not delusional--never been delused before, hope in the name of the Heavenly Father--will save us all with no anxiety--no force, no force of evil; just precontemptible grace, The Son of God is what I believe that he wouldn't let the Atonement to a tortured lace, I will qualify to be with God and His justice, never go back to the bad influence, anxiety of sickness--I still consider for the resurgence, just want to be free from the negative substance.

Ok so...
Today is the first day of the fall semester for many people. I'm taking a full course of 15 cr. hours from Butler Community College, and I tell you what. After this summer, I feel like it's finals week! Anyways, I know I'm one of the few in college, and it may seem like it's not the same--but it doesn't matter how you're bettering yourself--just as long as you do something!
Well, as I start this year off running, just remember I'm thinking about what my peers are doing too. Have a great semester everybody!

Out to Eat with the Young Adults
Last Thursday we wet to Golden Corral and what a treat it was. I wanted to clear up a couple of things. First; I told the Young Adults that The Golden Corral serves Chines Food; well apparently bourbon chicken and rice are not Chinese Food. Second; no matter how you ask for your steak to be cooked it is always well done. Overall it was a good time and I hope to do it again soon.

Our trip to Missourri
On May 3, 2009, Shawna Dennett, and I flew to St. Louis, Missouri for colleague training and made sure to get a good nights’ sleep before hand as we both knew we would have very busy and exciting days to look forward too. We were joined by five other guests for colleague training: Maya and Amber are from North Carolina, and Linka, June, and Beverly from London.
Monday was the first day of training, and I remember how amazing it was to walk in the doors of a Clubhouse quite like nothing I had ever seen before. I was breathless as I looked around and saw how open the space was so that members could not isolate from each other. They ask that everyone work in twos instead of alone, which I think is a great idea.
The club has three units: upper, street, and lower. We pick a level we wanted to work in for the first week and then choose another for the following week. I chose the street level and work in the bank where the members can make a deposit or withdraw. They could also have a check written and signed for them and then cash it at the register. Everyone worked as a team.
While I was doing that on the first few days, Shawna Dennett was cooking in the kitchen, snack bar, and cleaning the dining room and bathrooms. One of the things Shawna and I noticed is that we were coming into this training in the same way a new member would try to find where they belonged in the work-ordered day. In the beginning, it was hard to try to find something to do in order to feel like part of the team. That was when Shawna and I understood what it must feel like to be a new member or staff; we both have been part of Breakthrough for many years and have forgotten how it felt to be new. We must remember to open our eyes and see that there are new people who feel left out, and it is our job to help them by being friendly and remembering what it was like being the new person.
In training, we talk a lot about members and staff roles and work ordered day in the club house. Members are the foundation on which the club house is based, regarding their needs and even though it is voluntary, members are needed to run the club house, because without members the clubhouse would not exist. We, members, must work together and not expect staff to hold everything together; the staff must also do the same and keep an active interest in helping members to be involved in the work-order day. We should all work together each day, side by side, as we are colleagues and equals. As we talked about the work ordered day during a meeting, it dawned on me how important it is and how lucky we are to have it. It allows us as members to feel important, that our views matter, and are able to learned new skills; whether, that was going back to school, getting a job, or doing something like typing for the first time, you know the staff are there to help you to keep believing in yourself. If you come back to the reason you became a member you realize it’s not work; it’s about being stable and pushing yourself to the next level—not giving up but surviving and becoming better through recovery.
Another standard is Education and this is now becoming one of the most important parts of the club house model. It has become more of a foundation of the club house now that it is part of the standards. As we work together, we learn something new each time. It is not only members working on high school or college classes, but also teaches skills that are needed in the community. As members develop these skills, they teach others and the cycle keeps going. We are growing and becoming independent and this is proof of the power of education. Education is far more than getting a degree as we are learning everyday.
Employment is also another important part of the club house and is part of our standards. Here at Breakthrough, we have TEs to help members start their first jobs and our staff is here for support. Staff is also here to help with independent employment if needed. Here we never need to feel alone as we are a family. Employment gives us hope of recovering and becoming a better citizen. As members work we feel we are achieving our dreams. Without the employment program, our club house would not be able to exist as it is another foundation needed to have a strong club house.
Another thing we talked about was wellness. It does not have its own standard, but it is also a part of the work ordered day. That is about change though and will be part of the standards soon as it has had a great positive impact on members in a variety of ways. At Independence Center, they have a big wellness area where they do aerobics, weight lifting, stress relief, stretch classes, yoga, karate, and one on one time with the staff if needed. They have a studio that is about the size of our wellness center to have classes of 15 people at a time and also keep the weight room open all day except during meetings. They also have men’s and women’s lockers room with showers and bath rooms.
Independence Center’s young adult program is a lot smaller than ours and the ages are from 18-30 years old. They do not have a social program like here at Breakthrough, but do have a ‘get together’ twice a week but is mainly geared towards adults. Most of their members are mainly 24 and older. They are working on growing their young adult program through word of mouth and their website. I did have the opportunity to tell them what we do here at Breakthrough; they are looking into doing other activities during the evening, because they want to increase their young adult members.
They also have a tech area where they have a news corner about the clubhouse and also what is going on in the world around us. They also make videos for companies in their areas for less cost than their competitors. They made a video for all of the visiting colleagues and I thought it was awesome. Here at Breakthrough we have a ways to go before we could have our own news station, but we do have the technology. There could be some big changes coming soon!
Their social program is mainly eating dinner and then sending members home. They do have social evening once a week and sometimes on weekends, but do not do as many different things like we do here at Breakthrough. But because their wellness is open till 7pm that gives them time to work out during social hours. The Independence Center social coordinator said he would like to have a program more like Breakthrough’s and would like to come here and see what we do as far as socials and how members are involved in the planning each month. We may be a smaller clubhouse, but we have a lot going on for us! We are still on the top 10 list of the biggest clubhouses in the world and that should make all the members and staff proud of what we have here at our club house.
If you watch you will see members working together with each other and staff. This make a difference for everyone involved here at Breakthrough. We to remember what it was that brought us here and to let our hope shine through. Then you will see a place where you are home. Being wanted and loved for who you are no matter what is one of the greatest feelings in the world.

We all had a great time at the Braque last night at the Sedgwick County Park. The wealthier was a little Chile but that didn't stop the fun. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cab, chips, cookies, and drinks. I have to say it was good; for those how were unable to come you miss a lot. Daniel, Danna, Kerry, and I went swinging and were acting like kids again but we didn't care. I made new friends while I was there with some of the older members who would of thought they be so much fun. Of course Bob was cooking as while as John and with them to together you know there is about to be a party. So we missed you all and hope to see everyone tonight cause we are going to the Alley, and if you are unable to make it I will give you an update.

Dance this Wednesday
There is a dance this Wednesday at Breakthrough. There is an 80's theme and as always there will be rides provided home for members. Hope to see everyone there.
How Breakthrough has helped me
Since I have been at Breakthrough I have made a lot of changes in the way I have acted, and in the way I react to negative situations. I have also made a lot of new friends that I can relate to without feeling like people are judging me because of my mental health condition.

Riverfest
Hey Everyone,
My name is Teddy and I am a Young Adult Member of Breakthrough. I went to the Riverfest yesterday and had a great time. I visited the Army booth and got a military I.D. I wanted to climb the rock wall they had, but didn't have enough time. We also visited the food court where I got a giant pretzel. The Riverefest was a exciting time from the food to the interesting people. I would recommend that ever body visit the Riverfest.

Check your-delf before you wreck your-self
Life choices are very important from minute to minute. The snap of and anger out burst can turn your life around before you know it. So before snapping it’s important to take a step back and observe the situation. “Think before you act” Making the wrong decision will lead to a domino effect of problems and will cause more stress in your life you don’t want. After stepping back from the situation tell yourself all the problems that can lead to a violent lash think of were your life is now and what you want for your future. Remember asnger is only a temporary fix.

Socal Night Out To Eat!!
Hey guys! Here is the down low on what happened on the social Thursday. We had about 30 young adult members come in which is great. Anyway we voted 6 times and went to Golden Carrel. We all had a great time meeting up with others we have not seen in a long time. There was a lot of laughing and some of members were trying to grose staff with adding different foods together. We also had a member and I can't say who but we all left and got in the car and most everyone left but stacy and Debbie and the members they were taking home anyway that person was still stuffing their face with cake and icecream anyway funny right but thats just all that happened so come in you'll never know what will happen next.

Jen's Arbitrary, Pointless Thoughts
What's up everyone out there in cyber world??
Jen is utterlly tired...for serious. I have been up since like 7 pm yesterday...I am about to go home and crash.
GRR!! My foot hurts like a mofo. I stepped on something yesterday and its stuck in the bottom of my foot. When my mommy comes to get me...she is gonna take me to the doctor so I can get it taken out of the bottom of my foot.
As some of you might know... I kinda sorta have a boyfriend. His name is Michael and he is absolutely AMAZING! I we are getting really serious about dating. I am just waiting on him to pop the question.
Bleh...I don't know what else to talk about...
Later, yo!

my experience at breakthrough
Hello my name is James. My experience at Breakthrough has been very fun and exciting since I have joined. Everyone made me feel welcome when i first joined the club. I have made many new friends and now I help new members feel welcome. If you are a young adult struggling with a mental illness feel free to contact us anytime.
trying to stay clean and sober in recovery
Meeting new people is really an ok deal. Its always hard because you dont know why some people are about. I have had the pleasure and dis pleasures in the friend finding process. Picking some not so good influences, but i have found a new member that seems to be pleasing not only in a personal relationship standard, but also the fact that the new person does not drink or use drugs.

Thanks to all who came to Final Friday.
Hey everyone!!
I just wanted to thank all of you that came and seen my artwork last week on Final Friday. It was my first artshow and it had a pretty good turn out, I had about 20 friends and family members that came to see my artwork. Over all, roughly 160 people came out and supported the cause.
I talked to Jen this morning and she said that Final Friday may become a regular thing around here. I've heard rumors that Breakthrough might host another Final Friday in May for mental illness awareness month. Its not set in stone, its just up in air at this point.
Anywho...here are some pics with my, my friend and family.
Enjoy!
Later, yo!

Final Friday, Guitar Hero and Jen's Random Thoughts
What's up, yo?

Nothing a lot here, just chillin' up here at Breakthrough. OMG!!! JEN IS AT BREAKTHROUGH!!! Yeah, I know it's a shocker. I am like rarely up here. It's probably because I sleep all day and stay up all night playing my Xbox 360. [[If you have Xbox Live, you should so add me. My gamer tag is xxniferxx]] Anyways...I have been coming in more. I jacked the car from my mommy today [[I can drive again, YAY!]] and I am out job hunting and I just stopped in up a Breakthrough and just hanging out!
Anyways...there is a lot of exciting stuff going on here at Breakthrough this month. There is one thing that I really, really want to emphasis and that is Final Friday. Breakthrough is hosting Final Friday this month. I personally am going to be showing some of my art work. It would mean the world to me if you all could come and spread the word. I am really trying to get my name out there in the art community here in Wichita. If you don't know, art is a HUGE part of my life. I use it as an outlet to show my emotions and its also one of my coping mechanisms. It's Feb. 27th and the reception starts at 5 pm.
GUESS WHAT! I gots accepted at Wichita State. I am so friggin' excited. I am going to get a B.F.A. in studio art with an ephasis in drawing and painting and I will be also minoring in psychology. From there, I am going to go to Emporia State and get my master's degree in Art Therapy.
Oh yeah, on Feb, 23th the young adults are having a Guitar Hero party thingy here at Breakthrough. I absolutely LOVE Guitar Hero. It's one of the games that I stay up for hours and play on my 360. I am pretty good at it, I can play hard [[well most songs]]. So if you think that you can beat me, be here the 23th to battle me!
Welp, I think I am gonna head south and go home. I am uber tired [[I have been up since 1:30 yesterday afternoon]] and I am gonna crash 'til 3 and go pick my mommy up from work.
Later, yo!
Peace.
~Jen

A poem of encouragement by Raven
Live and Learn
You feel all alone.
You feel the pain within.
You want to escape it all.
But you know you can't.
You reach out for help.
But you can't find anyone.
Then finally you find someone.
Who can help you.
And give you all the help in the world.
And find your love within yourself.
And realize that you aren't alone.
There are people all around you filled with pain.
But all you have to do is reach out and lend a hand.
And you will never be alone again.
You will soon learn that once you love yourself.
Everyone will love you too!

January Article
This is a the article I wrote in the January Newsletter.
A word to our members
By Timothy Kiewel
I was asked to write something special for this month’s newsletter. I was asked to submit a piece about why a mental illness may not be such a bad thing. In fact, though tough to live with, it could just be a blessing. It is my hope that this speaks to every member here at Breakthrough and that it is one which inspires us as well. It isn’t every day someone is given a chance to express him or herself before so many people, so I feel very humbled, to say the least.
Let me tell you from my own perspective. I’ve been coming to the clubhouse now for a couple months or so, practically every day, and after the shock of adjusting to a new place, my first impressions of Breakthrough started to form. To be honest, I was very alarmed by how many members were able to carry on so well day to day with a serious illness. Without a real solution to problems such as repeated visits to the hospital, torn relationships, and loss of functionality, it is no doubt one of the greatest qualities in any individual I have ever seen—looking past one’s illness.
Each day I come to Breakthrough much as a volunteer would, as a necessary part of the community, and I feel that my participation is very important, that I could not be replaced. But many of my peers do not seem to feel the same way about their lives. Every human being is important, and the fact that so many people are succeeding at living with mental illness shows me how sorely our club and organizations like it are needed.
Every individual matters, and deserves a life they desire, whether they have a mental illness or not. As for me, meeting someone for the first time at Breakthrough is a joyful experience. More than a few times I have been asked if I were staff, but I suppose it is natural. Seeing as how some people do not appear “mentally ill”; it didn’t take me long to get annoyed by this particular question. I felt that, in time, my reaction to the question would pass, and it did. However, I gradually began to take it as a compliment with a grain of salt.
For instance, after learning of Breakthrough’s staff-member interaction policies I felt angry that the two groups were separated at all. I looked into the issue, and reflected on what I had found. That is when the difference between staff and members really began to confuse me. In time, I began to notice how staff could very well be struggling with the same things as members were usually known for. And, quite often, a member would accomplish something more difficult, which I feel has always been the earmark of those who have never battled a mental illness.
Those with a mental illness, the people I know at least, are an inspiration. They get up everyday, get dressed, and go out their front doors ready to take on the world in their own unique, wonderful ways. Every day I see a small picture of how the entire world could someday be, just by working alongside members and staff here. Some of the strongest characteristics I’ve ever seen in anybody come from our members here and the staff who strive with them.
For almost a decade, nine years, I’ve known about the Breakthrough clubhouse, but never came, never understood their purpose. I was afraid and I placed limits on myself. I didn’t know how to take action. I faced challenges every day that simply got the better of me, because I felt alone. I didn’t want to take the time to take care of myself. And I didn’t have the friends I have today because of this. I feel that there is nothing greater than overcoming one’s weaknesses, and that is where I get the feeling of breaking through.
It is not always the one with a mental illness who struggles, by any means. By comparison, it is also difficult for those who have physical impairments, such as paralysis or deformity. The ‘normal’ person has life itself to cope with, which is difficult for everyone. And when struggling with various difficulties in life, it isn’t always apparent, and is often overlooked. This is what I feel could be the most negative aspect of mental illness in general. When someone is dealing with life’s more difficult challenges, it is very hard for anyone to understand, or know how to help.
Everyone must be at one time or another forced to deal with certain issues such as the death of a dear family member, or unemployment. Such things can have nothing to do with mental illness, and can be just as hard to live with. This is why, I believe, society must look to our success for insight in such situations. With a mental illness, the fight is difficult day after day, and it cannot be solved by simply finding a job, or letting go of a loved one who has passed away.
I do not intend to find a short answer to these problems, by any means, but they are solvable. Mental illness is not, at least not in the same sense. There are many days which even staff members, here working with us at Breakthrough, lose motivation, run out of steam, or struggle to live healthy lives. Being around us is a constant motivator though, let me assure you. Every day we lift up our colleagues. But we do not always see this. The point I hope you will see is how we may be heroes to other people around us and have no idea we are even doing anything. We see each other and think, as peers, that we are constantly struggling, or living somewhere between well and unwell. But there is so much more to be seen in us than that. There is inspiration in each and every person, and it is especially powerful in those with mental illness. And it can be readily seen if you just look for it.
To say it all in a final word, success is not just how much money we make, or how perfect we can be. Success is going on in light of one’s shortcomings. And I would like to commend each and every one of you for providing your own light for me to walk in. It has been all the difference for me. I would long ago have fallen into a state of despair and loathing had I not found so many people doing all they can with their lives, day in and day out. So, I would like to say, Congratulations to you on your great success.

Daily Postings
We're going to try to write a new post to this blog about ever day. We'll add some instructions and get the emails out for everyone to get updated all the time by following this blog. Hope you're having a great week, there's been a lot of good things set in motion since yesterday's Community Meeting. We're getting a new van from a grant we got, and there's going to be a variety of choices on the lunch menu now. This should help us out with Young Adults social club and just plain socializing whenever we're here. How exciting!

Kicking off the new year.
Well, it's the first Monday of the year 2009. Ok, we all know what that means, but we don't have to sink in our chairs and get all upset yet... it can be started out really great if we just pull together and put our minds to it. This year, actually, is the last year of the Millenial decade also! ... next year is the beginning of the Twenty-Teens!!! There's much to look forward to in the next ten years. Iraq is going much better, we finally don't have a Bush in office, and we ourselves will probably see the first man on Mars if all goes according to Nasa's plan (by 2020)... Also, most of us will be out of Young Adult age range by then, so let's really get our groove on. Hope you all had a good holiday season and a happy New Year!
Alright everybody, go to work!
